Our Story

A family orientated business based in Herefordshire.

Three generations working together through emerging technologies and innovative agriculture.

Roger and Gareth Lucken grew up in rural Cornwall and both had a great interest in agriculture and farming.

Roger went on to a career in farming spanning over 40 years in both arable, livestock and land management.

Gareth went into an engineering career, and has worked all over the world on major projects, running several international engineering companies. He has a particular interest in renewable energy and environmental engineering which has brought the brothers together to form Advanced Growers, blending agriculture and engineering together to diversify the family farm and future plan for food production at a time of great innovation in the industry.

Lucy , Gareth’s wife , trained and worked in the media before concentrating on their family.  She is now working alongside the brothers to grow the business.

Rogers wife, Andrea, also works in the business supporting the plant production while continuing her role in the traditional farming operations.

How we grow

Pesticide and chemical free, grown to the highest standards using quality seed and nutrients in a soil free growing system.

Here at Advanced Growers, we use a vertical farming system to produce a range of herbs, greens and exotics in a controlled environment, unaffected by weather patterns.

All produce is pesticide and chemical free, grown to the highest standards using quality seed and nutrients in a soil free growing system.

Our production methods allow us to reduce the amount of water required by up to 75% and as we only grow in the UK, the carbon footprint is greatly reduced by low food miles, unlike imported product from around the globe.

Through our closely monitored and controlled environments, we are able to create the optimal climatic conditions to suit each herb, leafy green or specific variety of crop. Thus allowing a consistency of high quality produce throughout the year without the reliance upon the British weather!
